There is an extensive library of information on pest control available on-line or on paper through the various land-grant college extension services. Here we present six different sources of information for pest control. Each source has a different focus and expertise.

 

1. The following site, from the Texas A&M University extension service, provides information on control of a wide variety of animals that can be pests around a dairy, including birds, deer, opossum, raccoon, rodents, skunks and flies. It also provides suggestions for designing rodent-proof buildings. 3. The following site provides information on controlling insect pests such as lice, grubs and mange. This is from the University of Wisconsin extension service:

 

4. The following site, from the University of Kentucky extension service, provides a more extensive discussion of fly control methods, and a few comments on lice, tick and grub control.

5. The following site is uniquely helpful because it provides a guide to identifying different species of flies, which is important because not all species of flies can be controlled by the same methods. This site also gives details on chemical control of flies: where, when, what, how. This is from the Mississippi State University extension service:

6. From the extension services of Cornell University and Pennsylvania State University, the following site examines insect control from the perspective of where the flies are: in the barn or in the pasture. It also provides a more detailed look at grubs, lice and mange than is given by other papers. The information here is at least 10 years old, so the product names may be obsolete and the legality of some of the recommendations may now be withdrawn. You should obtain current product information before you actually put chemicals in the sprayer. However, the discussion of approaches to control of these pests is very valuable information.
